Letter to Our Community Following an Increase in Mass Shootings

Dear Colleagues, Members, and Friends SAARA of Virginia,

The recent horrific acts of targeted gun violence witnessed across the country must be loudly condemned. These tragedies weigh heavy and echo further than Boulder, Colorado, or Atlanta, Georgia, and reverberate in communities across the country.

In many ways, the pandemic has both brought humanity closer together and, at the same time, exacerbated the challenges and biases that we face every day. The violence we're seeing against our Asian American and Pacific Islander neighbors and friends is wrong, unacceptable, and hurts us all.

At SAARA, we strongly condemn all racism, sexism, and bigotry in any form and stand united with communities affected or targeted by those who seek to promote violence.

In community,

Victor McKenzie Jr.
